The Morgan Silver dollar began its production in 1878, following the reign of the Seated Liberty dollar. The Morgan was minted at 4 different mints during its time as the only silver dollar. One of the main mints was the New Orleans Mint, also known as the Old Mint, that heavily depended on the success of the Morgan's production. When the Morgan's production stopped, the Old Mint was decommissioned shortly after. The New Orleans Mint's building as been used as a fallout shelter, an assay office, and a storage facility for the US Coast Guard. It is now considered a national landmark, representing the history of coins. Your 1889-O Morgan was minted in New Orleans and features the "O" mint-mark on the reverse of the coin. This coin is specifically considered extra fine condition, with a considerable amount of wear on Lady Liberty's facial features.
