Another common error on the US Mint's part was the extra tail feather added to the eagle on the reverse. Traditionally, there are 7 tail feathers that are visible but the way the die minted the coin, the extra tail feather became noticeable. Again, this error became accepted and even loved in the collector world. Only 750,000 1878 8tf Morgans were minted, making them one of the lower minted Morgans and making them more of an investment worthwhile. Your 1878 8tf is in Extra Fine condition, with a slight mint luster. Some features to expect with a coin in extra fine are the overall wear on the coin. Lady Liberty's portrait is mostly sharp with some wear around her hairline, ear, and cheeks. The eagle, on the reverse, also shows some signs of wear on his wing, breast, and tail feathers.
