Only four mints produced the Morgan silver dollars. Each of these mints provided their own signature, also known as a mint-mark, on the reverse of every Morgan. Depending on where the Morgan was minted, that affects how many Morgans were made from year to year. Carson City, Nevada contained a mint that produced lower mintages of coins because of the smaller size of the actual building. Since this place is known for lower mintages, collectors have been after anything with the "CC" mint-mark for years. Carson City also shut down before the Morgan silver dollar finished its run as the official US dollar, creating an even smaller amount of Morgans to hunt down and collect. Your 1880-CC was minted at the US Mint in Carson City and carries the beloved mint mark "CC." As a coin in extra fine condition, you will notice wear on Lady Liberty's cheeks, ear, and hairline, along with the eagle design on the reverse.
