Burnished Silver Eagles are not something every collector is familiar with but gives collectors another option when investing in American Silver Eagles. Burnished Silver Eagles tend to have the same finish as the brilliant uncirculated coins but are only minted at the West Point Mint. Each silver eagle minted at West Point carries a specific "W" mint-mark and is only dated back to 2006. Usually, the West Point Mint participates in the Proof Silver Eagles so these BU versions are in high demand. Having such a popular coin, in your repertoire, should be certified so it is preserved for years to come.
Your Burnished 2006-W Silver Eagle MS69 Early Release NGC is a part of the Early Release program, which is reflected on the official certified NGC holder. Early Release simply refers to the coins minted in the first 30 days of production, that were sent to be graded. Early Release coins are popular since their strike is stronger than coins minted later on in the year. The obverse displays Lady Liberty in all of her glory; loosely dressed in a lightweight toga that gently moves with the wind. The lady has a tall and slender figure that is draped by a large American flag. Both of the lady's arms are occupied; one holding a bundle of branches and the other is extended as if reaching out in invitation. The rising sun encroaches behind her as it offers the hope of a new day. The words, "Liberty," and "In God We Trust," are both stamped on the obverse, along with the coin's date of mintage. The reverse shows the US Coat of Arms with 13 stars above it to represent the original 13 colonies. The reverse also bears the coin's weight and purity to prove its validity.
