Over its 150 years of being a reputable branch for the US Mint, the San Francisco Mint has helped produce some of the most collectible coin collections in the world. Claimed as a result of the famous gold rushes, the San Francisco Mint was established to help turn mined gold into US currency. Although the Sacagawea Dollar looks golden, its is comprised of a copper-nickel alloy with the natural color of the copper shining through. The Sacagawea Dollar series was inspired by the brave Native American, who guided the historical Lewis and Clark Expedition. It is also the most recent US currency dollar minted that can be used in circulation. The 2010-S Sacagawea Dollar is in perfect proof condition and carries the "S" mint-mark. The date of mintage and mint-mark are inscribed on the rim of the coin, instead of on the obverse. The reverse design is a bundle of arrows, tied together.
