The Barber Silver Half Dollars 100 pcs Good Obverse bag offers investors 100 Barber Half Dollars, wherein their Obverses are in Good condition. Good condition entails a very worn surface but the date should still be readable. The condition of the Reverse side varies from coin to coin. Inspired by the Grecian goddess, Liberty, the Barber design was created to honor the roots of the woman so beloved on US currency. The Seated Liberty was the current design and the US Mint Director, Edward Leech, believed it was time for a new portrait. He first put out an add for a competition among local artists, hoping to lure them in with a cash prize for the winner. When the response was less than what he bargained for, Leech collaborated with Barber to come up with a design. William Barber, the US Mint Chief Engraver from 1879-1917, designed the Barber coinage. The Barber coinage is one of the only times in history wherein all of the circulating currency matched in design.
Like many other coin collections, William Barber used the Head of Liberty to grace the obverse of the Barber coin series. Liberty's look is inspired by a Grecian Goddess and she wears an Acanthus leaf cap as a crown. "United States of America," and the coin's mint date are also simply stamped on the obverse of the Barber Half Dollar. The reverse contains the nation's official seal, which is of a heraldic eagle holding a shield. Each of the eagle's talons are grasping a symbolic gesture: olive branches and arrows. This design is still used on modern day coinage and represents the strength of the nation, while understanding the price that needs to be paid for freedom. The Barber series draws in investors, as well, due to their 90% silver content.
