Due to its .999 pure silver guarantee and its brilliant uncirculated condition, the Mexican Libertad series has taken off in its popularity among avid coin collectors and silver bullion investors alike. Silver coin collectors are always looking for a .999 fine silver coin that also has an interesting design that lures them in. The Mexican Libertad's design is simplistic but also comes loaded with plenty of Mexican history and mythology. Produced in one of the oldest mints in the Americas, the Mexican Mint, the Libertads' mintage varies year to year; some years have an incredibly low mintage while others are a bit higher. These coins are easy to store if you like to keep a diverse collection of silver and are packaged in individual coin flips.
Copying the original design of the Mexican Centenario, a gold bullion coin minted in 1921 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Mexico's independence, the Mexican Libertad displays a stunning obverse. A winged Victoria is placed on the front of the coin to grab your attention. She is only clothed from the hips down with a cascading drape, gently flowing in the wind. Encroaching behind the goddess are two prominent volcanoes that are still active today. These volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl, are famous for their mythological meaning in Mexican tradition. Once being star-crossed lovers, these volcanoes have been set next to each other for an eternity. "1 onza plata pura" is written on the obverse, meaning "one ounce pure silver." The coin's year of mintage, s also included with "ley .999" to prove the coin's purity. Turning the coin over to the reverse side, you will discover Mexico's Coat of Arms seal, containing the proud eagle destroying the snake.
