Presented on the reverse of the 2020 Kangaroo coin is, you guessed it, a kangaroo. The coin's denomination of "1 dollar" is written above the shifting animal. "1 ounce fine silver" is also written below the thumping feet of the kangaroo. The Royal Australian Mint uses a frosted finish for the silver Kangaroo, causing the kangaroo to look more dimensional. Turning the coin over to the obverse, we see a stunning side portrait of the Queen. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been featured on the coins' obverse since 1953. She was once pictured as a young girl, with flowing locks that held up a precious flower wreath. Now, she regally stands with the appropriate crown placed on her head. This design of the Queen was created by Ian Rank-Broadley and is still used today on all bullion coins that feature Queen Elizabeth II. The coin's place of mintage, "Australia," and the coin's year, "1994," are both inscribed on the obverse as well.
Starting in 1993, the Royal Australian Mint began their production of the silver bullion Kangaroo coins. They mint a coin with a different kangaroo image on the reverse and the amount they mint is very limited. The silver Kangaroos are .999 pure silver, are in brilliant uncirculated condition, and come packaged in mint sealed capsules for their protection.
