Born and raised by the second president of the United States, John Quincy Adams was elected the 6th president. John Quincy Adams is the son of John and Abigail Adams, the dynamic duo that is a part of the Founding Fathers. Adams early life was mostly spent traveling overseas with his father. Since he didn't physically attend school but had a private tutor, Adams was able to sacrifice the amount of time spent going to France. Adams learned of the Declaration of Independence through letters to his mother from his father. It would be his significant time spent overseas that led Adams to attend Harvard College and pursue his education. Apart from his political associations, Adams was also a professor for Brown University and was named the first US Minister to Russia. Adams was deeply admired for his ideas, dealing with foreign policies, and helped the US be respected worldwide.
John Quincy Adams is pictured on the obverse of 2008-D Presidential Dollar. His face is outlined by the unique golden hue that is a result of the copper and brass metallic composition. Adam's name and term in office are also inscribed on the obverse side of the dollar. Statue of Liberty is the main attraction on the reverse, as well as the coin's monetary value.
