  • Description:

The Philadelphia Mint is s the first ever US mint facility and also one of two last-standing Mints that produced to Morgan silver dollar from 1878-1904. The Founding Fathers strongly desired for the US to establish a national identity and set-up a means to international commerce. The US needed to put itself on the map and establishing a currency was the way to do it. Some interesting events that share the date with the 1888 Morgan are the Washington Monument opened for the public and the National Geographic was first established. Your 1888 roll of Morgan silver dollars are in brilliant uncirculated condition, with little to none bag marks to be expected. Since most BU Morgans were stored in sealed mint bags, it is difficult to find a BU Morgan lacking bag marks entirely but fortunately bag marks to do affect the overall value of the coin. Also, all rolls of Morgans are packaged in plastic tubes, containing 20 coins.
