    Taras was a city in southern Italy founded by Spartan refugees. Taras was named after the son of Poseidon, who was saved from a shipwreck by a dolphin. This mythological tale was also ascribed to Phalantos, the founder of the city. This coin has the classical designs for the city, with a man riding a dolphin on the obverse and horse and rider on the reverse. Excellent preservation, graded XF by NGC.
