There are a few variations of the 1907 $20 St Gaudens double eagle. The US Mint first produced a coin with a high relief finish, Roman numerals for the date, and a wire rim. That double eagle was quickly switch to a flat rim but still contained the high relief finish and the Roman numerals. The US Mint Chief Engraver, William Barber, desired to create a more manageable coin that was easily struck so the relief was greatly reduced and Arabic numerals replaced the Roman counterparts. Your Certified 1907 $20 St Gaudens double eagle is the final product of Barber's efforts and is readily available in all conditions. NGC issued your coin a MS63 grade and is preserved in a NGC official holder. Collectors love to take advantage of this low premium, high grade coin!
