  • Description:

The Presidential Dollar series, first minted in 2007, was the first coin series to memorialize the past presidents of the United States of America. The Philadelphia and Denver Mints contribute every year to this brilliant uncirculated series, producing rolls of 25 coins at a time. Since the US Mint wants to honor all of the presidents, it set out to mint 4 different portraits a year. Literally riding the coattails of George Washington, John Adams was the second president of the US and of the Presidential Dollar series. Officially a part of the Founding Fathers, John Adams offered the US something different than Washington. Although Washington was an excellent leader, both on the battlefield and in the White House, Washington lacked the education that Adams became famous for. John Adams was born in Massachusetts, to a mother whose family had a prestigious medical background, and a father who was devout in his faith. John disappointed his father when he chose to pursue a career in law, rather than the church. Adams graduated Harvard College with a law degree and became a political theorist, lawyer, author, and diplomat. He offered the nation his innovative ideas of republicanism and maintaining a strong central government.

John Adams' portrait, designed by mint engraver, Don Everhart, is found on the obverse of the 2007-D Presidential Dollar. His name and term in office are also engraved on the obverse, encircling his picture. The reverse reveals the prominent Statue of Liberty, as well as the coin's legal tender value of $1. With a strong copper core and a beautiful manganese brass finish, the Presidential Dollar series fools any new collector into thinking it is actual gold. It's unique color has been revered since the minting of the Sacagawea Dollar in 2000. It also cannot be guaranteed that this roll will come in original packaging. Collectors enjoy the history behind the Presidential Dollars as well as the fun that comes with attaining all of the presidents.
